ODS5 Sunglasses Prescription Inserts

Smith Optics Prescription Sunglasses Inserts for Every Pursuit

Getting prescription lenses into performance sunglasses used to mean compromising on fit or coverage. Smith Optics solves that with the ODS5 Rx Adapter, a purpose-built insert that snaps into the nosepiece of shield-style frames, holding your prescription lenses behind the outer lens without affecting fit or field of view. It's a straightforward way to get prescription wrap-around sunglasses built for performance.

The process is straightforward. Choose a compatible ODS5 insert, enter your prescription from your eye doctor at checkout, and complete your order. Smith Optics fulfills the prescription lenses directly. Once it arrives, snap it into position behind the outer lens, and you’re ready to go.

The ODS5 is compatible with ChromaPop™ outer lenses across a range of Smith Optics performance frames, so you get polarized prescription sunglasses with Smith Optics’ full color-enhancing performance paired with your exact Rx.

FAQs

Which Smith Optics frames are compatible with the ODS5?

The ODS5 is compatible with Smith Optics prescription shield sunglasses and performance frames, including the Shift MAG, Shift XL MAG, Shift Split MAG, Wildcat, Bobcat, Vert PivLock, Syncline, and Pursuit. If you upgrade to a new compatible frame next season, your ODS5 adapter and prescription lenses move with you.

How do I get my prescription put into the Smith Optics ODS5 adapter?

Add the ODS5 Rx Adapter to your cart, then enter your prescription details from your eye doctor during checkout. Smith Optics handles the lens fulfillment. When your order arrives, snap the adapter into the nosepiece of your compatible frame, and you’re set.

Can the Smith Optics insert work with progressive or bifocal lenses?

This depends on your specific prescription and the insert frame dimensions. Always consult your optician before ordering. Many people with progressive prescriptions opt for single-vision distance lenses in their sport sunglasses, since distance vision is the priority when cycling, fishing, or spending time outdoors.

Does the prescription insert work with ChromaPop™ lenses?

Yes. The ODS5 sits inside the frame behind the outer ChromaPop™ lens. Your prescription lenses provide the vision correction, while the ChromaPop™ outer lens delivers Smith Optics’ signature color contrast and definition enhancement. You can swap outer ChromaPop™ lenses for different light conditions without removing the prescription insert.

Are Smith Optics prescription sunglasses FSA or HSA eligible?

Prescription sunglasses are generally eligible for FSA and HSA reimbursement, though eligibility depends on your specific plan. Save your itemized receipt and submit it to your plan administrator along with a valid prescription if required. Contact your provider to confirm coverage before purchasing.
